Barbara Levitt Photography | About
A resident of Rockland County since 1965, I was an elementary school teacher for 25+ years, as well as an exhibiting artist/potter, teaching pottery to children and adults for more than 20 years. My passion for photography, was ignited early in childhood when my father gave me a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera. I loved making images of family and friends engaged in everyday activities as well as family events. . . This passion eventually led me to study at the NY Institute of Photography and with some master photographers including Jane Conner-Ziser, Monte Zucker, Clay Blackmore, Sandy Puc, Rick Sammon.
As a mother, a teacher, and a storyteller, a student of life and people, I love capturing fleeting moments - smiles, laughter, tears, the connections between people, - documenting and preserving them to be enjoyed for years to come. I love making images that tell stories and spark cherished memories.
Barbara Levitt Photography specializes in at-home or on-location, natural and ambient light, lifestyle portraiture and event photography for babies, children, teens, adults, and families, as well as theatrical, corporate, real estate, travel, and fine art photography. As a storyteller, my lifestyle portraiture, although sometimes directed or guided, is most often candid. My ultimate goal is to capture emotions, interactions, and relationships, to tell stories that depict the essence or spirit and mood of my subjects.
